SPX, SPY New High Close as Euro Rallies, TNX Moves Higher...

Six of nine sectors moved higher on Tuesday.  XLU, XLE and XLY were the strongest sectors.

The SPX and other indexes continued to consolidate pulling back just 8 points from Monday’s close before making a New High Close on Tuesday.  The SPY moved up 34 cents on volume of 134.8 million sharesThe intermediate term trend is still up.

Money Flow was typical as the Euro, TNX and SPX moved higher.  XLF was unchanged. Bonds and VIX moved lower.  The most recent SPX breakout has a chart target of 1,428 within 12 weeks of the breakout.

The VIX moved down and did confirm the SPX on Tuesday.

Breadth strengthened as advancers led decliners 1.30 to 1 on the NYSE and decliners led 1.11 to 1 on the NASDAQ.

CSTR +6.97, +13.79% and SWI +3.09, +9.29% moved higher after better than expected earnings.  CERN gapped up after the close on better than expected earnings.

Bull flags with entry signals last week SPY, CF, VMW, INFA, CHKP, CTXS, CREE, CAT and VECO continued to move higher on Tuesday.  X, LRCX, LVS, A, ESI, NFLX, PCLN and CRM have either paused or pulled back forming another flag.

Leading stocks > +2% on Tuesday included CSTR, SWI, ENTR, CRUS, JDSU, ZAGG, UCO, GRPN, SWN, TBT, KKD

Losing stocks < -2.0% included SINA, PCX, ANR, SNDK, SOHU, EIS, WLT, LNKD, IL, FCX

NDX 100 stocks stronger than the NDX included SHLD, ESRX, MU, ORLY, PNRA, CTXS, ADSK, EXPE, ADBE and ROST.

Stocks weaker than the NDX include GMCR, SNDK, GOLD, EA, FLEX, CTRP, MCHP, VRTX, GILD and SIRI.

One NDX stock SPLS closed above the 30 DMA making 92 NDX stocks above their 30 DMA.
