Stocks Consolidate Above ST Support on Partial Trading Day...F, FB Rise in an Uptrend Trade...


Seven of nine sectors moved lower on Monday’s half day of tradingXLB, XLY, and XLF were the strongest sectors.   XLE was the weakest sector.  Markets are closed on Tuesday for the Christmas Holiday.  Have a Happy Holidays!

Breadth
strengthened on Monday as decliners led advancers…1.47 to 1 on the NYSE and 1.66 to 1 on the NASDAQ…

Technical Commentary:

The SPY closed down 44 cents at 142.35 continuing to form a new potential bull flag.  Monday’s low was higher than Friday’s low. The VIX closed unchanged and did not confirm the SPY move down.

The weight of the evidence continues to suggest that the current 5 week uptrend is likely to continue.

The Euro closed down 6 pips at 1.3182 on Monday. TNX was higher, TLT, bonds fell 22 cents and XLF moved down 3 cents to 16.37.

Disk storage stocks WDC was down 28 cents on its first day in the NDX and STX down 17 cents.  Coal stocks ANR, ACI, BTU, CNX and WLT were lower on Monday in bull flag type patterns.


The Market Forecast Green Line is in the upper reversal zone.
