SPX Closes Below Wednesday's Low on Test of Tuesday's Breakout...

Earnings season continued on Thursday. Positive reactions included GPC, AA, ADS, PM and BBTNegative reactions: URI, TXT, SNA.

The DJIA, closed down 327 points at 25,379led by weakness in BA, CAT, AAPL, HD and IBM.  This is the sixty-ninth consecutive close above 25,000 since June 15.

Two of eleven sectors were higher, led by utilities XLU +0.15% and real estate XLRE +0.03%.

SPY down 4.05 at 276.40, on 134.5 million shares, 48% above average volume. Down on higher volume.
VIX up 2.66 at 20.06 
Oil down 1.34 at 68.71
TLT down .04 at 113.96 on 5.7 million shares. 

VZ +1.28%, MRK +0.54%, led the DJIA, 6 advancers, -12.
GPC +5.97%, AA +5.86% and ADS +5.51%, led the SPX.
ORLY +1.10%, ESRX +0.40%, WDC +0.13%, and COST +0.04, led the NDX.

Intermediate and long term up trend intact.  3-day short term trend is up.

Up: 
Down: DIA, SPY, IWM, QQQ

Breadth weakened on Thursday, as decliners led 2,243 to 674 on the NYSE and led 2,265 to 698 on the NASDAQ

The SPY MFC green line is pointed up at 31 and is bullish.
