COMPQ, NDX New High Close...SPX, INDU and RUT Pause...

The SPX closed down -2.71 or -0.21% at 1,273.85.  The SPX reached 1,278 intraday just 3 points below its 1,281 December breakout price target.

The SOX rose +7.68, making a new high close at 424.77 on Thursday and the VIX moved down +0.38 and closed at 17.40.

SPX Reverses a Lower Open and Moves to a New High Close...

After a slightly lower open buyers bought stocks pushing the SPX up +6.36 or +0.50% at 1,276.56.  The SPX is just 5 points below its 1,281 December breakout price target.

Interest rates jumped near recent highs on Wednesday and bonds opened lower and fell near recent lows.  The Euro fell 154 pips to 1.3152 at 5 pm ET. 

The SOX rose +1.51, closing at 417.09 on Wednesday and the VIX moved down -0.36 and closed at 17.02.

RUT Bearish Engulfing, COMPQ Dark Cloud as SPX Hangs...

The SPX sold off to Monday’s S1 level then rallied to close down -1.69 or -0.13% at 1,270.20.  Still 11 points below 1,281 December breakout price target.  The INDU closed higher while the RUT sold off -1.59%.

SPX Highest Close since Sep 3, 2008...

Read the January 1 Post and send your email, if you have not yet taken the first simple step to making 2011 your best year yet!  Don’t be left out

The SPX closed up at 1,271.89, up +14.25 or +1.13%.  It is now just 10 points away from its 1,281 December breakout price targetThe broad indexes all exploded to the upside on a wide range day with increased volume indicating that institutions were back from the holidays.

All four broad indexes and the TRAN all made new high close.  Both the INDU and TRAN made a new high close confirming the primary uptrend under Dow Theory.

Today was the first trading day of the third year of the Presidential Term Cycle which has the largest average annual gain of the four years.  Since 1945 the third year of the PTC produced a positive gain 100% of the time.
