SPY, Broad Indices Hold Above Support as TNX Makes New Low, CIEN Soars After Earnings...


The Euro drifted down just 4 pips to 1.2362, a new one year.  TNX interest rates closed at a new all-time low at 15.81.  Financial stocks rose 12 cents and bonds hit another new high.  The SPX closed at 1,310.33 holding above its 1,300 support area and the short-term trend of the last eight days remained neutral .

Seven of nine sectors moved lower on Thursday. XLF, XLU, and XLP were the strongest sectors.

Breadth strengthened as decliners led advancers 1.07 to 1 on the NYSE and 1.12 to 1 on the NASDAQ.

Technical Commentary:

The SPY sold off and fell near support forming a higher low in its short-term neutral sideways trend.  The Euro made a new low while the SPY again closed above 131 and above its low on May 18.  This is a divergence between the short-term lows of the Euro and SPY.
