NDX, DJI, SPX Close Lower after META, MSFT Negative EPS Reactions...Real Estate, Financial, Health Care Led Sectors...Afterhours: AMZN, AAPL Up on Positive EPS Reaction...

© 2025

SPX -68.25, 6,822, closed above 6,800 for the fourth time.  Breadth was negative on Thursday as declining capital increased significantly from heavy selling in META.  Government shutdown continued for the thirtieth day.  Apparently, politicians have prioritized their political objectives over a fully functioning government.

It was intriguing to watch the post earnings META and MSFT trading on Thursday with the broad market lower and the number of advancers higher.  Very similar to the atypical variance of outcomes that we have observed in 2025 due to a variety of factors like DOGE, tariffs, volatility, the middle east, the government shutdown and absence of data releases in October.

The four-week SPY trend is up notwithstanding Thursday’s pullback.  The three- and six-month trends are up.  Dave
