SPX Forms Doji Near Resistance as TNX Moves Higher...

Five of nine sectors moved higher on Tuesday. XLK +0.44%, XLY +0.43% and XLI +0.29%, were the strongest sectors.

On Tuesday the Euro was up 9 pips to 1.3643. TLT was down -39 cents. Financials XLF was down 1 cent.

The broad indices all moved higher with the NDX +0.71%, COMPQ +0.66%, RUT +0.59%, SPX +0.05% and INDU -0.15%. The SPX moved up +0.65 and closed at 1,195.54. The VIX moved down -0.16 to 32.86.

Tuesday is the high day of the recent short term up trend as the SPX nears the 1,205 horizontal resistance area.

AA, -5.24% in after hours trading, reported stronger earnings 15 cents per share and revenues than the same quarter a year ago but less than analysts expectations of 22 cents. AA affirmed a 12% growth rate for 2011. JPM, GOOG and FAST report earnings on Thursday October 13.

Breadth weakened as advancers led decliners 1.26 to 1 on the NYSE and 1.53 to 1 on the NASDAQ.
