Looking at the weekly chart on the SPX I see a head and shoulders pattern with a break of the neckline. Is that valid TA, even on the weekly?

I'm not Dave, but you made a terrific observation. Looks like a 10 point measuring distance which would bring the SPY down to about $116 ... which "coincidentally" looks like a good support level.
