SPY, Broad Indices Hold Above Support as TNX Makes New Low, CIEN Soars After Earnings...


The Euro drifted down just 4 pips to 1.2362, a new one year.  TNX interest rates closed at a new all-time low at 15.81.  Financial stocks rose 12 cents and bonds hit another new high.  The SPX closed at 1,310.33 holding above its 1,300 support area and the short-term trend of the last eight days remained neutral .

Seven of nine sectors moved lower on Thursday. XLF, XLU, and XLP were the strongest sectors.

Breadth strengthened as decliners led advancers 1.07 to 1 on the NYSE and 1.12 to 1 on the NASDAQ.

The SPY sold off and fell near support forming a higher low in its short-term neutral sideways trend.  The Euro made a new low while the SPY again closed above 131 and above its low on May 18.  This is a divergence between the short-term lows of the Euro and SPY.

SPY Drops as Euro Collapses over Spain, Greece Worries...AAPL Moves Up...


The Euro collapsed 137 pips to 1.2366, a new one year low as worries continue over Spain and Greece.  TNX interest rates dropped to a new all-time low at 16.25.  Financial stocks dropped -33 cents and bonds hit a new high.  The SPX closed at 1,313.32 above its 1,300 support area and the short-term trend of the last six days shifted to neutral .

All nine sectors moved lower on Wednesday. XLV, XLU, and XLK were the strongest sectors.

Breadth weakened as decliners led advancers 6.61 to 1 on the NYSE and 3.73 to 1 on the NASDAQ.

SPY Moves as Semiconductors, Materials, Energy and Financials Move Higher...


SPY continued its support bounce in a big way on Tuesday.  Semiconductor stocks bounced as CRUS led our watch list stocks.  The Euro fell to a one year low and TNX interest rates pulled back -0.14.  Financial stocks rose and bonds pulled back slightly.  The SPX closed at 1,332.42 above its 1,300 support area.

All nine sectors moved higher on Tuesday. XLB, XLE, and XLF were the strongest sectors.

Breadth strengthened as advancers led decliners 3.77 to 1 on the NYSE and 2.31 to 1 on the NASDAQ.

The SPY continued its support bounce following the Memorial Day weekend.  It appeared last week that buyers were stronger than sellers buy just did not want to commit more aggressive buying before the three-day weekend.  The weight of the evidence which suggested bounce continuation as more likely was right once again.

SPY moved lower prior to the long weekend on lighter volume.  The Euro fell to a one year low and TNX interest rates pulled back -0.14.  Financial stocks were down slightly and bonds rose.  The SPX closed at 1,320.68 above its 1,300 support area.

SPY Rebounds, Tech and Seminconductor Stocks Down Follwing NTAP Guidance...


The day after lower guidance from DELL, NTAP delivered earnings with cautious guidance and the NDX tech stocks including semiconductor stocks moved lower.  SPY rallied from intra-day lows again late in the trading day on talk that Euro leaders were committed to keeping Greece in the Euro zone.  The Euro fell to a one year low and TNX interest rates rose +0.38.  Financial stocks were up slightly and bonds pulled back.  The SPX closed at 1,320.68 above its 1,300 support area.

Markets will be closed on Monday in observance of Memorial Day.

The SPY which spent the morning testing the support low made on Friday reached a low of 129.99 before buyers stepped in around 12:30 pm EDT and made a strong recovery to close up 7 cents.  The Euro fell and TNX interest rates slipped -0.72.  Financial stocks and bonds rose.  The SPX closed at 1,318.86 above its 1,300 support area.

Six of nine sectors moved higher on Wednesday. XLB, XLI, and XLY were the strongest sectors.

Breadth strengthened as advancers led decliners 1.54 to 1 on the NYSE and 1.17 to 1 on the NASDAQ.
