The SPX, COMPQ and RUT rose while the INDU and SOX were down slightly.  XLF led all sectors with a new high close. XLK stayed above its horizontal resistance following Monday’s breakout. XLB is near a potential breakout.

Guidance:

The SPX closed at 1,189.44 a new high close and a horizontal resistance breakout. Short term target is 1,200, the next resistance level.

Continue to trade with the trend. Be mentally flexible and watch for a potential counter trend pull back if the chart breaks short term support.

The chart target is still 1,255 in approximately nine weeks after the 1,150 breakout on March 16.

The VIX fell -0.79 and did confirm the slightly higher close on Tuesday.

The short term trend is up.
The four-month trend is up.
The twelve-month trend is up.
