SPX, NDX Flat before 3-day Easter Weekend as Breadth Strengthens...VIX Lowest Close since April 2...Energy, Consumer Staples, Real Estate Lead Sectors...After-hours: NFLX Gains...Happy Easter...

Markets are closed on April 18 for observance of Good Friday and the Easter Holiday weekend.


SPX +7.00, 5,282, opened higher, traded in a range, closed slightly higher.  Today’s drivers were an increase in buying, a negative UNH earnings reaction and continued selling in NVDA.   Thursday was consolidation day after Wednesday’s pullback. 

Breadth strengthened as exchange and index advancers rose more than 100% in both the NDX and SPX

The DJI, 39,142 -1.33%, opened higher, reversed on a negative UNH EPS reaction.  NDX +.449, +0.00% closed flat.
