SPX Forms Piercing Line as Stocks Rally Led by Financial, Energy and Technology Sectors...

NDX +99.14, +0.99% and SPX +33.43, +1.10% SPX opened lower and traded in an intra-day basing pattern for most of Thursday before breaking out during the last hour of trading and closed higherSPX formed a piercing line candle on the daily chart.

Ten of eleven sectors were higher on Thursday, led by XLF, XLE and XLK

Financial leaders:  AMP, UNM, CFG, WFC
Energy leaders:  NOV, NBL, PXD, HAL
Technology leaders:  ACN, CTSH, IT, NVDA

SPY up 3.26 at 307.35 on 89.4 million shares, near average volume, up on lower volume.
VIX down 1.62 at 32.22

GS, DOW, JPM led the DJIA, 22 advancers, +22
NOV, CAN, NBL, AA led the SPX, 380 advancers
WDAY, DLTR, CTSH, BMRN led the NDX, 81 advancers

The two-year trend term is up.  The one-year trend is up.

Breadth strengthened on Thursday as advancers led 1,920 to 1,039 on the NYSE and led 2,288 to 1,071 on the NASDAQ

The SPX MFC green line is pointed down at 70 and is defensive.  Price action formed a piercing line candle with a low above the bull flag low of June 15, indicating the potential for a bounce and uptrend continuation.
