Wednesday was again the lowest close in the VIX in more than 15 months. The SOX moved down and did confirm the move down in the COMPQ. Strongest Sectors: XLB +1.70%…XLE +1.20%...XLV +1.02% Weakest Sectors: XLK -1.12%...XLP -0.07%...XLY +0.13% Seven of nine sectors moved higher on Wednesday. Materials, Energy, Healthcare, Utilities, Industrials, Financials and Consumer Discretionary were stronger than the SPX +0.05%. Flat indexes two up, two down. Advancers and decliners almost the same as Tuesday. Strong sectors and weak sectors even thouugh only two sectors were lower. I find that very intriguing that seven out of nine sectors moved high but the SPX was up less than one point. It is not important but intriguing. There were some very strong stocks today and if you follow any of the webcasts and real time vitrual trades we have done you probably saw them move big. Big gainers included STLD, FAST, ILMN, CEDC, UNG, CGA, X, ATW, ESI, IPI, MOS, DECK and NFLX. Big losers included EXPE, PCLN, GOOG, AMED and ICE. On Wednesday GS upgraded SCHN and WOR from sell to neutral and raised their price target on X by $13 to $67. This helped lift SCHN +7.89%, WOR +20.53%, STLD +7.26% and X +4.44%. Look for the intermediate term trend to continue while being mindful of a pause or pull back. XLF continues to be the key to the SPX breakout following through to the upside. Stay with trends that have broken above resistance. Watch for horizontal breakout trend continuation moves. Continue to focus on and trade setups on the charts of the stocks you watch and follow your rules.
