SPX Closes Flat near Short-term Support...Energy, Technology, Financial Lead Sectors...AAPL, META Lead Mega-caps...

The SPX +3.21 opened flat, traded in a range and closed flat.  The SPX closed near short-term support on September 7. 

Breadth improved but was still negative on Monday.

QQQ, SPY closed below the high of the low day on September 7, near short-term support.

FOMC announcement at 2 pm ET and press conference to begin 2:30 pm ET, Wednesday, September 20.   CME Fed Watch tool forecasting rates to remain unchanged.


Mega caps AAPL, META, GOOGL, NVDA rose and AMZN, MSFT, TSLA fell on Monday.


SPY up .26 at 443.63, on 55.7 million shares, below average volume, closed slightly higher on lower volume. 
VIX up .21 at 14.00.
QQQ down .15 at 370.66


AAPL, V, TRV, AMGN led the DJIA, 16 advancers, +13
TYL, ROL, ALL, ACGL led the SPX, 234 advancers
SIRI, LRCX, SNPS, CHTR led the NDX, 56 advancers.

The two-year trend term is sideways.  The one-year trend is up.

Five of eleven sectors were higher on Monday, led by XLE, XLK and XLF.

The SPY MFC green line turned down at 58.5 and is short-term defensiveSPY opened slightly lower and closed slightly higher.
