SPY Soars Following Jump in Euro...


The Euro moved higher overnight and stocks gapped up on the open.   TNX interest rates, financial stocks and the broad indexes had a huge move up while VIX volatility and bonds moved lower.  A support bounce and resistance breakout were the most common price patterns on Friday as you can read in Chart Patterns below.

All nine sectors moved higher on Friday.  XLI, XLE, and XLB were the strongest sectors.

Breadth strengthened as advancers led decliners 6.82 to 1 on the NYSE and 5.75 to 1 on the NASDAQ.

SPY Support Holds Rallies Off Lows Forms Hammer as Euro Bounces...


The Euro moved lower around 4 am ET to a low of 1.2405 before moving sideways for most of the day until a rally in the late afternoon that moved the Euro to a close at 1.2442.   Financial stocks and the broad indexes alsor rallied going into the close.  VIX volatility and Bonds moved up slightly as TNX interest rates and moved slightly lower.

Four of nine sectors moved higher on Thursday.  XLE, XLP, and XLU were the strongest sectors.

Breadth weakened as advancers led decliners 1.30 to 1 on the NYSE and decliners led advancers 1.60 to 1 on the NASDAQ.

SPY Continues Support Bounce as Breadth Strengthens...


The Euro drifted lower to its 1.2440 area before rallying more than 60 pips after 5 pm.   Financial stocks and the broad indexes moved higher.  Bonds moved up slightly as TNX interest rates and VIX volatility moved slightly lower.

Eight of nine sectors moved higher on Wednesday.  XLE, XLF, and XLU were the strongest sectors.

Breadth strengthened as advancers led decliners 3.61 to 1 on the NYSE and 2.49 to 1 on the NASDAQ.

SPY Bounces at Support as XLY, XLE and XLF Move Higher...


The Euro rallied from overnight lows after the open and then fell to the 1.2440 area before rallying more than 60 pips.   Interest rates, financial stocks and the broad indexes moved higher.  Bonds and VIX volatility moved lower.

Euro Falls Leading SPY, XLF, Sectors Lower While Bull Flags Continue to Form...


The Euro fell after Spain formalized its request for a financial bailout for its banks.  Fear over EU seemed to inspire another round of overnight selling that extended into Monday.  Interest rates, financial stocks, the broad indexes and oil moved lower.  The dollar, gold and bonds moved higher.  VIX volatility also jumped.

All nine sectors moved lower on Monday.  Defensive sectors XLU, XLP, and XLV were the strongest sectors.

Breadth weakened as decliners led advancers 3.41 to 1 on the NYSE and 2.86 to 1 on the NASDAQ.
